A Homage to the Sweater

Why did the groundhog have to see his shadow?! I am not emotionally prepared for 6 more weeks of winter!! Granted our winter has been mild, but I truly despise everything cold. I am ready to bask in the sun again and be jacket-less and free! Is this too much to ask? I guess on the other hand, I should thank you winter. You have given us all a valid reason to wear the many fabulous sweaters this season!

When I map out my wardrobe for each season, first I make sure I have the essentials. Winter: Solid shirts, blouses, and cardigans for layering, the perfect fitting jeans, my array of boots and booties, scarves, a jacket and lastly sweaters! You can never have too many! While I am a firm believer in solid sweaters and tops that can be accessorized with jewelry and scarves (these will stand the test of time), I also enjoy stepping to the wild side and purchasing some unique looks, even if they are only on trend for a season or two.

Today I had a lunch date with my girlfriend and wore this minx

sweater. This is an example of a more wild print and style that

is currently on trend. It's super comfortable and warm. I have worn it numerous times, changing up the look a bit each occasion. Paired with dark jeans today, I have also styled it with my black Piper Jeggings and even a skirt. It definitely turned out to be a wise investment.

Embellished sweaters, cold shoulder, over-sized, turtlenecks, capes, ponchos, fringes, ruffles, and off the shoulder surely have made a statement this season. Take a look at some of my favorite sweaters that have led me through the colder days this winter. It will be hard to part from so many bold and stylish pieces but I think I'll manage once a sundress is on hand!
