I met Lisa over three years ago when our daughters were in the same kindergarten class. While our girls bonded during recess, we quickly became friends on the playground with our younger ones. Our children weren't our only commonalities. We grew up in neighboring towns, got married at the same venue, and had some mutual friends. Our conversations were very fluid and authentic. I knew she would be among those inspiring mommy friends who would immensely influence my life.
I can honestly say that Lisa is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. What you see is what you get. She is honest but tactful, and completely indifferent to all things drama. She will give you the shirt off her back in an emergency and has become that go-to mom that every other mom can rely on in a pinch. Her loyalty is admirable.
When we first met, Lisa had Alexa, who is the same age as Gianna, and Zach who is close in age to Mia. Feeling incomplete, she had baby Jake over 2 years ago. I am in awe of how she juggles all 3 kids and their hectic schedules. Her husband Jason works extremely long hours and is a wrestling coach. Hence, a lot more responsibility falls on Lisa. Despite her heavy load, she never complains. She happily transports all three children to their endless daily activities.
After researching ways to expand my platform and gain more traffic on social media, I realized my first job was improving and enhancing my photos. The iphone just wasn't cutting it. I knew Lisa had invested in a professional camera and enjoyed taking pictures. I randomly called her one day and asked if I could come over and have her snap a few shots of an outfit. The rest is history. I drive Lisa nuts at least once a week! I go to her house and bring my daily outfits and accessories, and she graciously and patiently snaps away. Jake comes along for the ride too! I have had so much fun playing with Jake-ee and bonding with Lisa on a whole new level. Lisa has made me feel comfortable and more confident in front of the camera! We also realized that she has immense talent behind the lens. I truly hope she pursues this further!
I have a newfound respect for moms of boys! Boys are above and beyond any level of activity I am accustomed too! The persistent jumping, running, and climbing is exhausting. I am starting to think this may be why God never blessed me with a son. He knew I wouldn't survive! Plus, boys and heels don't mesh!!!! After spending so much time with this dynamic mom/son duo, it sparked an idea.
Lisa is a mother of 3 (two being boys) and dresses practical for that role. I describe her style as comfortable chic. She loves her leggings and simple tunics paired with flat boots, sneakers, or sandals, but she always looks polished. Her style suits her and her lifestyle perfectly. I love heels because they give me height and more confidence. Lisa, however, opts for flats because she is very tall (I envy her height). It's been captivating and very insightful, to get other fashion perspectives from moms. I have discerned that we all have our own insecurities and dress accordingly. Thus, this blog post. I wanted to showcase a great friend and her lively boy and encourage moms (especially moms of boys) that you can still look fashionable and comfortable at the same time! I also wanted to propose other styles and looks for those who may not relate to mine. All of Lisa's outfits are from stores that I favor but were styled to portray her. Jake is Mr. Prep, so Gap was my go-to store. It suits his personality precisely. It was enjoyable switching roles and photographing and capturing the precious bond between mother and son.
