Stay at Home Stylist has empowered me to forge so many noteworthy and remarkable bonds with women in such a short amount of time. I have reconnected with old friends on an entirely new level. The styling process traditionally commences with me in a state of fear and uncertainty, but culminates in utter exhilaration and gratification after the finished product. I was never blessed with an ounce of artistic ability on canvas, but my clients have become my muse. When I see them adorned in my selected pieces, they ripen into my own living masterpiece! Diana exemplifies this process perfectly.
I have known Diana for years. We grew up in the same town and have close mutual friends. Over time, we have stayed in touch for one reason or another, but have never really connected past the surface. Recently, however, that all changed. Diana contacted me and asked for some assistance and guidance. We talked for awhile over the phone. She has always loved fashion and dressing up, but was in a rut. Her closet was overflowing with clothes from stores like Forever 21. No longer age appropriate and lacking quality and structure, she needed a closet transformation. Like so many, Diana is extremely busy. She is a new mommy to a gorgeous baby girl named Maddie, and runs a very successful business. She doesn't have the extra time to peruse the internet for the latest trends or endlessly shop from store to store at the mall. She has a sound and concise vision of what she wants to portray in her new wardrobe, but wanted some help implementing it successfully and within her financial boundaries.
Diana exudes confidence, power, determination, strength, and intelligence. I was empowered after our initial conversation. She has so many goals and aspirations and continues to exceed them! She is the epitome of "Entrepreneur" in every sense of the term. One of her most recent goals, was to lose her extra post-baby lbs. through a healthy and gradual process. Vanity wasn't her mission, but rather to set an auspicious example for her daughter and other women. She also hopes to encourage healthy eating and living as first and foremost. She has been chronicling her journey on social media and the results are astounding. She has remarkably shed almost all of her post baby bulge by diligently committing to an Arbonne cleanse. I look forward to her weekly and bi-weekly updates, and couldn't be more proud.
Now that she is feeling better than ever, she wants her wardrobe to reflect those sentiments. Still hoping to lose some more weight ( this girl is unstoppable), she opted to have me search for dresses right now and put jeans and tops on the back burner. This process for her will be slow and steady and dresses were the easiest place to start. Spring is upon us and "the dress" is the perfect style for work and play. Her goal was to incorporate fun and flirty dresses into her everyday attire, yet remain sophisticated and work appropriate. Hence, adios Forever 21! Diana is tall and pear shaped. I wanted to find dresses that would accentuate her curves. Maxi dresses work nicely for taller women because the length falls flawlessly to the ankle, requiring no hemming or pinning. It also elongates and slims perfectly, not to mention they are comfortable and can be easily accessorized. Next, I found her a romper to show off her toned legs and slim waist. It's important to find rompers that don't scream: innocuous! Too short and too tight are not the goal. While for some, the romper isn't the most flattering choice, it serves Diana well because it cinches at the waist and creates that hourglass shape.
Throughout our conversations, I asked Diana if she was open to florals, prints, and bolder hues, or if she would rather tread on more simplistic waters. I firmly believe in making an entrance. Diana frequents with her clients often. Will they remember the consultant who was wearing a typical black dress or the powerhouse who confidently walked in wearing something flirty and floral, yet appropriate? I was pleasantly surprised when Diana chose bolder over simplistic, and was more than willing to take that fashion leap. She was eager to add more femininity and color to her life. She has been such a pleasure to work with and she made my job extremely uncomplicated. Watch out 2017- Diana is about to make her grand entrance!!!
